Ladies

During menopause, many women can feel like they are on an emotional rollercoaster: It's common for women to experience extreme highs and lows, and unexplained feelings. Having irregular periods during this time, just another common menopause side effect, may cause even more stress thus making it harder to control your emotions.

Any significant change in life can be difficult to become accustomed to. This is especially true when the change is happening in your own body as it transitions from fertility to infertility. You can however, learn how to cope with your emotions and irregular periods by following some of these easy tips.

Always Be Prepared

The more prepared you are for unexpected eventualities the better equipped you will be to handle irregular periods and the stress they can cause. Always travel with an extra pair of underwear, tampons, and maybe even pants if you are going on a long day trip. Being prepared will help reduce your worry about the chance of unexpected periods and let you focus more on enjoying the moment.

Talk to Your Partner

Your partner most likely will not understand what it is like for you to go through such a drastic life change. But by talking about the changes in your body, and the emotional distress menopause is causing you, you will help your partner become more capable of offering support and empathy. This will help you both feel more secure in your relationship.

Exercise

Exercising releases endorphins that can trigger feelings of happiness. By developing an exercise regimen that you will stick to, you can help improve your hormonal imbalance and with it, your emotional state. Every night after dinner try going for an hour walk around your house or apartment. Just an hour a couple times a week will help kick start you energy levels and keep you going on the toughest of days.

Eat Healthier

Adding more fruits and veggies into your diet seems like a small step, but it can yield dramatic results. The nutrients and minerals found in healthier foods can help alleviate some of the symptoms of menopause and can help regulate your periods.
