There are many different treatments for menopause symptoms. There are many holistic approaches to ease the discomforts.

Treatments for all Symptoms

There are various approaches to treating menopause symptoms that are good for most symptoms, such as:

  • Exercise. Exercise for half hour each day to stimulate blood flow and get the heart pumping.

  • Dietary changes. Making sure you have all your necessary vitamins and nutrients is important for overall health.

  • Herbal supplements. Some herbal supplements can mimic estrogen in the body or stimulate hormone production. Since menopause symptoms are often caused by estrogen deficiency, this can help balance your hormones and reduce symptoms.

  • Yoga. Aside from good exercise, this is also a good relaxation technique, which can help your body relax and destress, which can stabilize hormones and reduce the production of stress related hormones.

  • Aromatherapy. Another way to relax, and slow the production of stress hormones and rebalance your body.

Vaginal Dryness

Some doctors suggest vitamin E be taken orally and applied directly to vaginal tissue to ease vaginal dryness. Natural progesterone, used topically, is sufficient to treat vaginal atrophy in some women. Marigold has also been suggested for managing vaginal dryness, though this is still unproven scientifically. There are also water-based, hormone-free lubricants sold over-the-counter for easing vaginal dryness and facilitating comfortable sexual intercourse.

Anxiety

Lemon balm has been known to ease anxiety associated with menopause. Drink a hot lemon balm infusion one to three times a day. Herbs such as passion flower and valerian root are often prescribed for their calming and anxiolytic properties. Other easily accessible herbal remedies include chamomile, catnip, and peppermint teas.

Depression

Depression and the fatigue brought on by menopause can be treated with stimulating herbs such as oat straw, ginger, cayenne pepper, dandelion root, blessed thistle, and Siberian ginseng. These can help improve vitality, partly due to high levels of essential nutrients contained in these herbs. St John's wort, an herb widely used in Europe, can also help.
