Mood swings happen to everyone but affect women twice as much as men. Factors such as home life and environment can affect the risk and the severity of the mood swings. Stress- Stress can lead to both depression and mood swings. Working women and women in the their forties or fifties often have lots of stress due to jobs, and taking care of the family, both younger and older, and are burdened with financial responsibilities.

Menopause- Due to shifting levels of hormones, middle aged women often have to deal with a readjustment of hormones. Also, the end of the reproductive life can be hard for women.

Fatigue

Chemical imbalance– When the brain releases chemicals, neurotransmitters, the person can experience happiness, stress, fear, anxiety …etc. If a chemical imbalance is present then it might be the cause of mood swings.

As mentioned above, everyone experiences mood swings whether man, woman or child our chemicals in our brains change and we experience different feelings but it is important to distinguish normal moods from mood swings.

It is important that our bodies and minds experience emotions as they are a part of life but sometimes these emotions can be overbearing or not consistent with reality. Then it is important to deal with them as a mood swing.
