Reasons for Mood Swings and How to Deal with them
Mood swings can make life for women extremely hard to live. When women experience mood swings they are often left asking what are the reasons for mood swings. The sudden shifts in temperament often have no explanation. A woman may be perfectly happy before feeling inexplicably sad, or may be happy before feeling suddenly angry. Whatever the reasons for mood swings, they can leave women struggling to cope with life.
Why do I have mood swings?
There are different reasons that women may experience mood swings. For example the reasons for mood swings might be:
Hormonal imbalance during menopause can leave women suffering from mood swings. This is because during menopause women are coming to the end of their reproductive life. As a consequence women are no longer producing the same quantities of estrogen and progesterone hormones.
This is one of the reasons for mood swings because of the roles that progesterone and estrogen hormones play in the body. Progesterone and estrogen hormones control the production of serotonin and endorphins in the body. These are the chemicals in the brain that make people happy.
Thus if women are menopausal and experiencing shifting levels of estrogen and progesterone hormones they may easily experience fluctuations in their serotonin and endorphin levels. This can be troubling for women because it can then cause their mood to shift suddenly and quickly
Exercise is also one of the main ways that women produce endorphins. This is why are exercising many women feel much happier than before they exercise. As a consequence if women are not doing enough exercise it may be one of their reasons for mood swings.
Eating a healthy diet is one of the main ways that women can boost their estrogen and progesterone hormone levels. Thus if women do not have enough fresh fruits and vegetables it may be one of their reasons for mood swings.
How can I treat Mood swings with Lifestyle changes?
If women have mild mood swings they should make healthy lifestyle changes such as:
• Eating a healthy and varied diet that is filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grain fibers
• Take regular exercise, it is recommended to do half an hour a day, five times a week
• Sleep for the recommended eight hours a day
• Drink eight small glasses of water a day
• Don't smoke
• And don't drink alcohol
