During menopause women may be left struggling with mood swings due to their hormonal imbalance. This can have a large impact on women’s lives. The stress of mood swings can cause women to direct their anger or frustration at those who are closest to them. However fortunately there are different ways to manage mood swings. Women do not have to suffer in silence, with vast changes between being happy and sad.

Why do mood swings occur?

Mood swings usually occur due to fluctuations in women’s hormone levels. Mood is controlled by endorphins and serotonin. Serotonin levels and endorphin levels are controlled by progesterone and estrogen hormones. Thus if women are experiencing hormonal imbalance due to menopause, they can easily experience shifts in their endorphin and serotonin levels, which then causes mood swings. This is why it is important that when women are look to manage mood swings they try and balance their hormone levels.

How to naturally manage mood swings

The treatment method that women chose to manage mood swings should be dependent on the severity of their mood swings. For example if women only have mild mood swings they should consider making healthy lifestyle treatments and taking natural supplements to manage mood swings. There are a number of different healthy lifestyle changes women can make to manage mood swings, such as:
