How to Survive your Wife’s Mood Swings
You’ve been together through the happiest times, you’ve weathered everything life could throw at you – but now, your wife is entering menopause. As the reproductive system slows down, hormonal imbalances happen more often and surviving your wife’s mood swings can seem almost impossible. Don’t worry, help is at hand.
For many years, the subject of menopause and dealing with it was directly aimed at the women suffering from it. Today we have come to realize that the husbands, partners and family of women going through menopause are also greatly affected. Menopause is possibly the most underrated (and unwelcome) event in a woman’s life.
Easy steps to survive your wife’s mood swings
Accept menopause
It’s the most unwelcome houseguest that you will ever have (that includes the kids). It stays for far too long and at times, you don’t have any idea how to deal with it. But, it’s always going to happen. Accept that it’s here, and begin research in to how you can help your wife.
Of all the times she’s needed you, it’s now. Mood swings happen because of the shift in hormones and more than half of all menopausal women will suffer these extreme fluctuations in mood.
Become invisible (at times)
As a crucial step, don’t smother your wife. Leave her alone sometimes. You and your children running around, causing a mess or asking continuous questions are only going to trigger the mood swings. It takes some working, but eventually you will understand when to just be seen and when to be heard.
Be positive
Mood swings give a huge strain on relationships and can send your wife spiraling towards depressions. So, don’t tell her how much they annoy you – offer support and be positive. Help with the housework and whenever she’s down tell a joke, crack a smile or give her a hug.
Love your wife
“All you need is love” – allegedly. It is true, love is important, so take your wife out (for dinner, not with a gun – preferably), make loving gestures and just generally make her feel as special as she is to you.
Change you and your wife’s lifestyle
Don’t go telling your wife what to do, but by offering suggestions or subtly changing your lifestyle you can help to overcome mood swings. Do daily exercise together, increase fruit and vegetable intake and make sure you sleep well – these are just three things you can do to help you and your partner survive your wife’s mood swings.
