Recent research suggests that changes to male genitalia can impact the functionality of a woman's vagina during intercourse. The survey, conducted in Britain, indicates that male circumcision may irritate the symptoms of vaginal dryness.
A lack of vaginal lubrication can make sexual intercourse painful and affect a women's sexual enjoyment. Many women will at some point experience vaginal dryness, but the symptoms can be especially acute during menopause.
The survey titled, 'The effect of male circumcision on the sexual enjoyment of the female partner', conducted by O'Hara K, O'Hara J, for the British Journal of Urology, found that women tended to find sexual intercourse more comfortable with a partner who had a physically complete penis.
'The impact of male circumcision on vaginal dryness during coitus was investigated. We conducted a survey of 35 female sexual partners aged 18 to 69 years who had experienced sexual intercourse with both circumcised and genitally intact men. Women reported they were significantly more likely to have experienced vaginal dryness during intercourse with circumcised than with genitally intact men.'
The survey indicates that women are far more likely to experience the discomfort of vaginal dryness during intercourse with partners who have been circumcised. The results suggest that the male foreskin provides an essential moveable barrier that protects the sensitive lining of the vagina, reducing friction, chafing and preventing the loss of natural fluids during intercourse.
To prevent any discomfort during intercourse, it is recommenced that women experiencing vaginal dryness try using medical lubricants or invest a greater amount of time on foreplay.
