Severe Pain during Irregular Periods

Hormonal Cause of Severe Pain during Irregular Periods

The fluctuation in hormones is the result of the gradual shutdown of the ovaries. As women approach menopause, the ovaries are needed less and less to produce eggs and regulate menstruation. Irregular periods can be caused by too much or too little of either progesterone or estrogen in the system. It usually takes between two to ten years for the ovaries to completely stop working, but many symptoms are seen before, during and after the unpleasant symptoms of perimenopause.

Treatments for Severe Pain during Irregular Periods

Becoming more active on a daily basis can relieve severe pain.Dealing with severe pain between periods can be difficult.  This symptom is known to interrupt normal daily life and cause both physical and emotional discomfort for many women. However, there is hope for successfully treating severe pain. The first step is to make simple diet and lifestyle changes. These changes include: becoming more active on a daily basis (exercise at least 30 minutes, five times a week), incorporating healthy food and lots of water into the diet, getting plenty of rest, avoiding alcohol, and working to maintain a high level of personal well-being.


If these simple changes provide insufficient relief for severe pain during periods, you might want to consider exploring alternative medicines and treatments. Alternative medicine, which includes acupuncture, homeopathy, and herbal supplements, is an effective and safe way to combat irregular periods and other menopause symptoms like mood swings, hot flashes, and night sweats. But if the symptom persists, you may want to use medications, after evaluating the risks associated with it. Remember that before beginning any treatment regimen, you should consult a medical professional for guidance.
