Be Prepared for Menopausal Irregular Periods While You are On the Go

I am sure most women have been caught off guard at some point by the start of their period. We can note down our ‘due date’ in our calendar, but a change in hormones, which can be triggered by a number of lifestyle changes or medication, can sometimes mean we are unprepared for the monthly cycle. Unfortunately, for most women, once menopause begins, this becomes a recurring problem. An imbalance of hormones causes irregular periods.

Irregular periods is often the first sign that menopause is approaching. Only you will be able to know if you are suffering with it, though, because every woman will have a unique cycle. However, if you begin suffering with heavier periods, sporadic flows, and spotting on blood clots for example, then it is important you are ready for this so that you can avoid any potentially embarrassing situation.

5 Tips on How to be Prepared for Irregular Periods While On the Go

There are several ways to ease your night sweats so follow these tips to prepare you and your partner for the sudden intense period of heat you might experience once you hit the pillow. He will be as keen as you to make night sweats a manageable issue because he will want a peaceful night’s sleep.

Always carry sanitary products with you.

It is also advisable that you have a constant supply at work. Having them at home isn’t enough; make sure you are ready for your period to start in any social or work situation.

Have pain relief tablets with you.

This means you can quickly deal with cramps if you start to suffer with them.

Wear sensible clothing.

White linen trousers, for example, would not be a good choice if you unexpectedly start a heavy flow! Wear clothes that would make any blood stain hard to see.

Carry an extra pair of underwear with you, just in case.

Even if you are going out for the evening and can only carry a small bag, still ensure you carry a small pair of knickers with you so you can change, if you have to. This is a slight inconvenience, but it will be worth it.

Be mentally prepared.

Having a period, for some women, is not an enjoyable time of the month, so unfortunately, if this is the case for you, then just be prepared for the irregularity and try not to let it unsettle you. Maybe have some loose change at hand so you can buy some well needed chocolate if you crave some and take comfort in the fact that irregular periods are leading to no periods at all!
