Hot Flashes in Young Women could be Early Menopause
Hot flashes are most common around menopause affecting almost every woman and affect two-thirds of women during perimenopause. During menopause hot flashes occur due to the change of hormones but hot flashes can occur outside of menopause affecting young women also.
What are Hot Flashes in Young Women?
Hot flashes are defined when during sleep the amount of sweat or temperature of the body cause the person to wake up and change clothes.
Hot flashes can be uncomfortable and often disturb sleep patterns. Hot flashes are most often brought on by changing hormones and while the big changes happen during and prior to menopause, and in some cases during early menopause, levels of estrogen and other hormones go through a change every month and a younger woman may experience night sweats while approaching her menstruation period.
Causes of Hot Flashes in Young Women
As mentioned above, hormone levels often govern hot flashes but there are a few other causes.

• Pituitary Glands - Problems or issues in the pituitary glands can cause hot flashes in young women without any connection to menstrual cycles.
• Hyperthyroidism - Sometimes simply called an over-active thyroid can affect women in their 20s and 30s.
• Estrogen levels - A drop in estrogen levels can bring about hot flashes and, although rare, due to stress and environmental conditions, a woman may enter menopause at a young age.
• Diet - Certain types of food like nitrites and wine comprising sulfites can induce hot flashes. Tobacco, caffeine, spicy foods and alcohol can put added stress upon the body.
• Hysterectomy - An operation involving the removal of the uterus and ovaries.
• Premature Ovarian Failure - POF can cause hot flashes as well as vaginal dryness, irregular periods, missed periods, decreased sex drive and an increase in difficulty in concentrating.
• Other conditions - HIV, diabetes and tuberculosis can cause hot flashes. Also fatigue, extreme temperatures, and smoking can induce hot flashes in young women.
Treatment for Hot Flashes in Young Women
As stated above, alcohol, caffeine, smoking and other harmful substances can have a negative effect upon the body and can lead to hot flashes. Some women are more responsive to hormone changes and may experience greater trouble or the impact of the symptoms more than other women.
While abstaining from harmful substances like tobacco and alcohol, it is helpful to do exercise: Running, jogging and other aerobic activity is great for the body and can relax the mind and help one sleep.
Also there are alternative medicines like aroma therapy and supplements that have been known to relax the body and create balance between the mind and body.
