Your wife’s menopause: how to recognize her digestive problems
They say men don’t go through menopause. Well, it’s true that men have no ovaries and therefore cannot produce an ovum and are equally incapable of the cessation of menstruation because they never had a uterus to shed a lining in the first place. But to say a man does not experience menopause may be denying a little credit, at least to those men who live, or did live, with a menopausal woman. Some say it’s a true test of a marriage, much like rearing children or God forbid loosing one of those children. Yes, menopause can be quite trying for a man.
Now, you’ve heard about the hot flashes, and the mood swings and you’re even prepared for a little weight gain (you’re no Fabio anymore, either). What may have been neglected to tell you is that digestive problems are synonymous with the onset of menopause and can begin as early as age 35. The types of digestive issues a man can expect from a menopausal woman include, but are not limited to:
• Gas
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Bloating
• Cramps
• Sudden and false urge to release the bowels
Sound more like an advertisement for Pepto Bismol than a description of the object of your affection? Well she’s going through changes and the root of many of them is her fluctuating estrogen levels. Estrogen is a key player in a woman’s overall wellness and when she enters menopause, her estrogen levels plummet. It really isn’t a fun experience for her, and she probably feels very unattractive with all the bloating her stomach has been doing. If your wife is nearing the age of menopause, below are some tips to tell if her recent temper tantrums are the product of a tumultuous tummy.
1. She mixes Metamucil into her morning orange juice.
2. Encourage more sexual activity
3. She’s on a “cleanse.”
She’s buying and eating nothing but raw vegetables, which means you are, too.
4. You can’t find the milk.
She’s stopped buying it or there’s a carton of soy milk in its place. A tell-tale sign as dairy can exacerbate diarrhea.
Recommendation for Vaginal Dryness
Although you can make sex more enjoyable for you and your wife by buying lubrication and being more considerate about the speed you take things at, it is not addressing the main cause of your wife’s vaginal dryness. The root cause of this problem is the imbalance of hormones during menopause and these can be dealt with more directly. However, your wife should see her doctor if she wishes to use an alternative treatment. Follow this link to find out more about manopausal digestive problems.
